A second Kamloops councillor has now tested positive for COVID-19.
Mike O’Reilly took to social media to say that he tested positive for the virus over the weekend, and that he will be in isolation until at least March 25.
“The last couple of days haven’t been great but I am feeling a bit better today,” he said. “I am confident my recovery will continue. While in self-isolation, I will continue my city council work electronically and continue to serve with pride.”
O’Reilly adds he was surprised that he tested positive for COVID-19, as he says he and his family have followed the public health guidelines that are in place.
“Luckily, we have kept our bubble small and the contact tracing team will have very few people to follow up with,” O’Reilly added.
His diagnosis comes about a week after councillor Denis Walsh tested positive for COVID-19, though O’Reilly tells NL News the two positive cases are not linked.
Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir also tested positive for the virus last month, but she has now recovered and is back to work.
