The second COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Kamloops is opening today at the Tournament Capital Centre.
Interior Health director of clinical operations, Carla Mantie, says the whole process of getting the vaccine takes about 30 minutes.
She says people will go in to register, and will then spend about 10 minutes with an immunizer.
“Sometimes we’re able to get through that a little bit faster. And then they have to sit in another spot for 15 minutes, and be observed for any adverse reactions. And then they are escorted out to the exit, which is separate from the entrance.”
There will be 12 immunization stations at the TCC, and about 300 appointments are expected to be booked there everyday this week.
Within the Kamloops area, another vaccine clinic is also opening today in Clearwater, at the Clearwater Community Health Centre. On Thursday, another clinic will open in Barriere, at the Barriere Seniors Centre.
