
New data from the BC Centre for Disease Control shows there were 30 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kamloops local health area between March 21 and March 27.
That is almost half after there were 56 cases reported the previous week in the area that includes the City of Kamloops as well as Barriere, Sun Peaks, Little Fort, Chase, Tobiano, Savona, and Logan Lake.
The Kelowna area had the highest cases in the Interior Health authority at 141, double of what is was (70) the previous week.
In the Merritt area there was a steep jump in cases from six to 22, putting the area into the ‘red’ with an average daily case rate greater than 20 per 100,000 people.
Other areas in the red in the Interior include Revelstoke with 18 cases. Howe Sound (Whistler area), Peace River South, Upper Skeena, Nisga’a, Prince Rupert, Surrey, Delta, Vancouver, and West Vancouver also saw the greatest spread in cases per capita last week
There were 21 new cases in Vernon, 10 in Salmon Arm, two in the 100 Mile area, one in the Cariboo Chilcotin along with zero in the North Thompson, South Cariboo, and Lillooet areas.
