
In the past week, new COVID-19 cases in the Kamloops local health area exactly doubled compared to the previous week.
There were 96 cases in the Kamloops LHA from April 4-10, compared to 48 from March 28 to April 3.
The new cases would include at least some of the cases reported in Sun Peaks, as the cluster of cases there was first reported on April 3. The local health area includes not only Kamloops but also Sun Peaks, Chase, Barriere, Little Fort, Logan Lake, Tobiano and Savona.
Meanwhile, the Merritt local health area saw seven cases last week, which is one more than the week prior. The South Cariboo local health area, which includes Lytton, Ashcroft, Cache Creek and Clinton, only had one case of COVID-19, and the North Thompson local health area had one case.
Elsewhere in Interior Health, on a per capita basis, Revelstoke and Windermere had the most new cases last week, with 21 and 34, respectively. The next-highest on a per capita basis was the Central Okanagan, which had 288 cases, and Kimberley, which had 13.
The majority of new cases continues to be in the Lower Mainland, with all local health areas except Hope, Agassiz, Chilliwack, Langley and Richmond seeing more than 20 cases per 100,000 people last week.

For the entire month of March, the Kamloops LHA saw 250 cases, which was down from 472 in February and 428 in January. For all of 2020, the Kamloops LHA saw 346 cases.
Elsewhere in March within Interior Health, the Central Okanagan reported 483 cases, Vernon reported 90, Merritt had 51, Revelstoke had 42, while Salmon Arm had 38. Smaller-populated local health areas close to Kamloops had very few cases, including the South Cariboo (six), the North Thompson (two), 100 Mile (three) and Lillooet (two).
