
B.C. health officials say there have been 849 new COVID-19 cases today in the province, including 67 in Interior Health.
There was one death from the virus as well in the province.
Within B.C. today, there were also 474 new cases in Fraser Health, 247 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 31 in Northern Health and 29 in Island Health.
Hospitalizations have climbed to new pandemic records again today; there are now 456 people in hospital and 148 people in critical care. Active cases, though, have dropped modestly, to 9,145.
Meanwhile, for vaccine doses, there have now been 1,414,644 doses administered in the province, which is almost 35,000 more doses than yesterday.
Today, Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth offered clarity on an announcement yesterday by Premier John Horgan about police being able to fine people for interprovincial travel between health authorities. Farnworth says the government is considering “periodic roadblocks” at places like ferry terminals and along major highways, and he says full details will be released on Friday.
