Kamloops RCMP say two police officers were injured this morning while arresting a suspect after a short foot chase.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says around 9:50 a.m., police were responding after a vehicle was parked in someone else’s driveway in the 300-block of Pluto Drive, near the Overlanders Bridge.
She says officers discovered that the license plates did not match the SUV they were attached to, and a person was sleeping in the front seat.
“Police arrested a man, who allegedly resisted, resulting in a short foot pursuit, followed by a struggle which saw two officers injured,” Evelyn said. “One of the officers was transported to hospital by ambulance, but both are expected to recover.”
She says police later learned that the SUV was stolen.
A 33-year-old man remains in custody after he was arrested on multiple unendorsed warrants.
