Kamloops RCMP say a man was taken to hospital after reports of a potential jumper on the Overlanders Bridge yesterday evening.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called around 7:15 p.m. to reports that someone was hanging off the bridge last night.
“Kamloops RCMP responded to calls reporting first that a man was on the wrong side of the bridge’s fence, followed by a man hanging from the bridge,” she said.
“Frontline officers, including Car 40, attended the Overlanders and blocked traffic at both ends. A distraught man experiencing a mental health crisis was located walking on the bridge. He was safely apprehended by police under the BC Mental Health Act.”
Evelyn says the man was taken to the hospital for a medical assessment and care.
