The accomplice in a fatal gang shooting in Kamloops two years ago has now been sentenced.
On Friday, Gordie Braaten was sentenced to seven years behind bars, according to Crown prosecutor Sarah Firestone.
In March, Braaten pled guilty to manslaughter for his role in the gang killing of Jason Glover at a home in Brocklehurst, on Feb. 15, 2019. Glover passed away in hospital four days after the shooting.
Braaten has been in prison since March 3, 2019, and last week’s sentencing will subtract for time already served.
In connection to the killing of Glover, a jury found Hugh McIntosh guilty of first-degree murder two months ago. McIntosh also was guilty of attempted murder of Kelly Callsas, who survived the incident.
McIntosh will be sentenced in late May for his convictions; a first-degree murder conviction comes with a life sentence and no chance of parole for 25 years.
Firestone says Braaten has been serving his sentence at the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre and will be transferred to a federal institution.
