
The crooks were no match for Kody.
The Kamloops RCMP canine helped track down a couple people sneaking onto a rural property in McLure.
Police say a vigilant local resident called police last Wednesday morning, at about 7:30 a.m., when two suspicious-looking people crept onto a nearby property on foot.
Kody the German shepherd helped find a track to two people who were arrested without incident.
Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says evidence at the scene showed the two suspects may have been responsible for a series of break-ins at cabins and trailers in the McLure area.
Mounties also seized bear spray, brass knuckles and “break-in tools” from the two suspects.
A 32-year-old Kamloops man was arrested and remains in custody; O’Donaghey says he was wanted for crimes in the Vernon area. A 27-year-old Barriere woman who was also arrested at the scene has been released, with a court date scheduled for July.
