FortisBC says its crews will be excavating and inspecting two sections of the natural gas line within Kenna Cartwright Park next week.
According to company spokesperson, Jas Baweja, the work will be taking place next week from June 7 to 11 near the Prickly Pear Cactus Trail.
In a statement he says users of the park may notice FortisBC crews, equipment and some fenced areas while work is ongoing.
“When complete, FortisBC crews will restore each site to its previous condition, using seeds and materials appropriate to the park,” he said. “This is routine work FortisBC does to ensure its natural gas system continues to operate safely in the community.”
Baweja says all of the trails at Kenna Cartwright Park will remain open during construction. People though are being told to follow the signs and directions from crewmembers on scene as well as to watch for any vehicles and equipment that might be present.
In all, there are six small sections of the natural gas line being inspected. Four of those sections were completed during the week of April 19 to April 23. Baweja tells NL News crews will be working on the other two sections next week.
