
B.C. health officials are reporting 183 new COVID-19 cases today, the fourth successive day where cases were below the 200 mark.
There were another 30 cases across Interior Health, with 101 in Fraser Health, 40 in Vancouver Coastal Health, nine in Northern Health, and three on Vancouver Island.
Active cases across the province are at currently at 2,453 with 224 people currently in hospital, 59 of whom are in intensive care. There was one more death reported taking the death toll to 1,710 people.
On the vaccine front, 72 per cent of all B.C. adults have gotten one dose of a COVID vaccine. When you factor in people 12 and older, that number drops slightly to 69.6 per cent. In total, there have been 3,488,884 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine administered in B.C., 256,725 of which are second doses.
“Our goal is to get as many people as possible fully vaccinated with their COVID-19 vaccine as soon as we can,” Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry said, in a statement. “We are grateful for the many people in every part of our province who have stepped forward without pause to get their first, and now their second, dose.”
“Demand for vaccine is high, and this is very good for all of us.”
A COVID-19 outbreak was reported on unit 3E at Kelowna General Hospital. Two patients and one staff member have tested positive for the virus, with Interior Health saying an investigation is underway.
“There is no evidence of COVID-19 transmission to other areas of the hospital at this time,” a statement from IHA said.
In all, there are now 140,835 people who tested positive for COVID-19 who are considered to have recovered, about 97 per cent of the total 145,049 cases in British Columbia.
