Interior Health has issued an drug alert because of a toxic substance being sold in Kamloops.
It says a purple powder being sold as down contains a high toxicity of fentanyl as well as benzodiazepines.
The health authority says in addition to the risk of overdose, people who use even small amounts of the substance risk being sedated for a prolonged period of time.
As always, people are being told get their drugs checked through ASK Wellness on Tranquille Road. You’re also able to pick up a naloxone kit at several places including ASK Wellness and at various pharmacies.
The alert will expire next Friday, June 11.
