With inter-provincial travel set to return, the Bold Street Team at Tourism Kamloops is preparing for an influx of visitors to the area.
Director of Destination Development and Trade Relations, Lisa Strachan, says you’ll find those street team members all over the Kamloops area until the Labour Day Weekend.
“They have started. They’re going to hit some golf courses up. They’ll be at some of the parks like Kenna, Valleyview. They’ll be out at some wineries, they’ll be at the markets,” she said, on NL Newsday. “They’ll be really working to find the locations where they’ll have the best engagement.”
Strachan says the Service Canada Summer Jobs Grant helped cover the costs of the Bold Street Team.
“We were able to secure the grant so we have employed four seasonal workers. So there will be four girls out there. They will be with the jeep so if you haven’t see the jeep, you’ll be seeing that around town,” she added.
“We have a trailer actually that we’ll likely be down in Riverside Park and if not there, it will be out and about.”
And its not just tourists, Bold Street Team members will also be answering questions from Kamloopsians as well.
“They are familiar with Kamloops. They’ll ask more questions – you know what kind of food do you like? – and they’ll guide you towards things that they think you are going to like, things that they know are open,” Strachan said.
“Obviously, with COVID they know that safety protocols are important so they have all that information. And yes, its really just to improve that experience and learn a bit more about your community.”
