The big, lovable mastiff Sequoia has been found safe in Kamloops after a week of being missing.
The 170-pound dog had disappeared from downtown Kamloops on June 7 and was spotted yesterday afternoon, on a cliff near Peterson Creek falls.
Sequoia’s owner, Shelaigh Garson, reported the good news last night on Facebook.
“Reports of sightings were so rare until last night then three in a row,” Garson says. “We got a call from the RCMP at 3:30 a.m. that she was on the highway above us.”
“She is now at the vet getting some nasty lacerations patched up. Other than that and dehydration she is safe and we are overwhelmed with joy and relief.”
Garson thanked those who helped spread the word, whom she said was in the hundreds and possibly thousands, and thanked “the power of positive thought and social media” for helping get Sequoia home safe.
“Kamloops you are an awe-inspiring community!”
