
The George Road wildfire near Lytton has grown to 110 hectares in size and remains out of control.
The fire started Wednesday afternoon and is burning south of Lytton. It’s considered to be human-caused, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
There are 10 properties on evacuation alert near Lytton within the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, and eight other homes on alert within the Lytton First Nation.
In an update Thursday night, the BC Wildfire Service said crews made good progress on the fire. There were 55 personnel, five helicopters and two water tenders on scene yesterday. Three personnel also remained on scene overnight.

Meanwhile, there are five other smaller active fires in the Kamloops area.
The nine-hectare Hamilton Hill fire east of Merritt and the 4.5-hectare Pioneer Creek fire north of Cache Creek are both under control. Both are suspected to be human-caused.
A new fire has been reported this morning south of Kamloops off of the Coquihalla, called the Timber Lake fire. It’s listed as being a spot fire. Another spot fire was also reported above Cherry Creek yesterday, called the Greenstone Park fire. Finally, there was another spot fire reported yesterday southeast of Douglas Lake, called the Rock Lake fire.
