A 22-year-old Cariboo man was killed in a rollover crash south of Merritt on Saturday night.

Police say the accident happened just after 11:30 p.m. on Kane Valley Road, near Kane Lakes.

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says a black Ford F-150 rolled over, and says the person believed to be the driver went into cardiac arrest and passed away at the scene, despite efforts by bystanders and emergency crews.

Family members have identified the victim in the crash as Dylan Oborne, a rancher at Alkali Ranch near Williams Lake.

O’Donaghey says a 24-year-old man who was believed to be the passenger was also taken to hospital but has now been released.

Police and the BC Coroners Service are continuing to investigate and have not released further information on the crash.
