B.C. is reporting 145 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, though 14 of those were a data correction from last week.
There were 26 cases in Interior Health over this weekend. There were 68 new cases in Fraser Health, 48 in Vancouver Coastal Health, one on Vancouver Island, and none in Northern Health.
Active cases have dropped into the triple digits for the first time since August 2020 with 930 cases, with 107 people in hospital with the virus, 37 in ICU.
Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry says there were five people died of COVID-19, including someone in their 20s who lived in Interior Health. The data she adds shows most people still getting sick or dying of COVID-19 are not vaccinated.
There are now almost 77 per cent of people over the age of 12 who have gotten at least one dose of a vaccine. Henry is asking people to ensure that their kids between the age of 12 and 17 get vaccinated before people leave for their summer holidays.
Henry says to date, there have been 4,886,709 doses of vaccine that have been administered, including 1,320,194 second doses.
B.C. is expected to move into Step 3 of its restart plan on July 1 or later with more details expected to come later this week.
