If you’ve been shopping around for a COVID-19 vaccine, Interior Health is holding a three day COVID-19 drop-in vaccine clinic at Aberdeen Mall from July 1 to 3.
You won’t get to pick the vaccine you get, but the clinic is meant for people 12 and older who have not yet gotten their first dose of a COVID vaccine.
“No advance appointments are necessary for this clinic. People who live or work in the area will be able to walk-up, register and receive a COVID-19 vaccine,” the health authority said, in a statement.
The clinic will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 2, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 3.
It comes after just over 100 people were vaccinated during a four-hour long clinic in the Cascades Casino parking lot earlier this month – the first pop-up vaccine clinic of its kind so far in Kamloops.
While the clinic at Aberdeen Mall will be indoors, people are being told to take precautions against the extreme heat in the Kamloops area.
“Everyone should consider carrying water, wear sunscreen, light clothes and carry a sun shade or an umbrella to provide protection from the sun if needed,” the statement added. “Anyone with heart or lung conditions should identify themselves to staff at the vaccine site.”
People can also get their first dose of a COVID vaccine at a drop-in clinic either by appointment or by dropping in at their convenience. If you’re waiting for a second dose, those invites are being sent out roughly eight weeks after the day you got your first dose.
As of the latest available data, the vaccine rate for people over the age of 12 in the Kamloops Centre South Community Health Service Area (CHSA) was 78 per cent, while in Kamloops Centre North was at 70 per cent.
