
On the final day of June, B.C. has administered its five-millionth COVID-19 vaccine dose, while reporting 44 new cases today.
In total, health officials say 5,002,916 doses have gone out, meaning 61,121 doses were administered in the past day. With that, the province says 77.1 per cent of B.C. residents 12 and older have received at least one dose and 30.6 per cent of those people are fully vaccinated.
This comes as B.C. reported 44 new cases and no deaths from the virus today.
There were 14 new cases today in Interior Health, as well as 17 cases in Fraser Health, 12 in Vancouver Coastal Health and one in Island Health. There were no new Northern Health cases for a second straight day.
Active cases in B.C. have dropped by 60 today, to 816, while 108 people are in hospital and 34 people in intensive care.
The province will be moving to Step 3 of its Restart Plan starting tomorrow.
It means masks no longer being mandatory but still recommended for people not fully vaccinated, as well as no group limits for indoor and outdoor dining, liquor service restrictions being lifted, and casinos and nightclubs being allowed to reopen with a limited capacity.
