Kamloops RCMP say what began as a suspicious vehicle report led to two police vehicles being rammed in Aberdeen in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 10.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says RCMP were called to a house on Crosshill Drive around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday to a report of a suspicious SUV that had been idling for 45 minutes.
Evelyn says when oooicers approached the vehicle, they found that it had a stolen licence plate. Inside, there was a woman who was slumped over the steering wheel.
“While police were investigating, the woman woke up and allegedly rammed the police vehicle in front of her, then the one behind her,” Evelyn said, noting the driver sped off and damaged a fence on the way.
“Fortunately, neither officer was injured and no new damage was noted to their police vehicles.”
Evelyn says while police have a suspect identified, anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP and reference file number 2021-23315.
