Once again, people in Kamloops are allowed to attend council meetings and public hearings.
Those meetings are typically held at city hall but are still being held at the Valley First Lounge at the Sandman Centre, to allow for social distancing indoors.
The city asks anyone who attends public meetings to follow COVID-19 public health protocols, which includes the recommendation that people wear masks until they are fully vaccinated.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, council meetings have been live-streamed online for the public since March of 2020. Those meetings were held completely virtually for more than two months, but with complications of council members not taking part in person, the city was able to once again start hosting in-person meetings for staff and council to attend in June of 2020.
While the public is allowed, the city says it will continue to stream meetings over Zoom for “the foreseeable future,” and residents will be able to take part with the “raise hand” feature. The city also says there will now be closed captioning available over Zoom.
The city has a dedicated webpage for how to participate over Zoom, which can be found here. Further, the schedule of council meetings for the rest of the year can be found by clicking here.
