A 32-year-old Kamloops man is facing child pornography charges following an 15-month long investigation that dates back to last spring.
In a statement, the RCMP say they were contacted by the BC Integrated Child Exploitation Unit in April 2020 in relation to suspected child pornography that was uploaded locally.
“At the conclusion of a lengthy investigation, a report was submitted to the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) for charge assessment,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said. “Charges were subsequently approved by the BCPS and an arrest warrant was issued.”
Devan Shane Wallis was arrested on July 2 though police say he was released with multiple conditions including to not go to any public park, public swimming area, community centre. daycare, school, playground, or theatre where anyone under the age of 18 is or could reasonably be expected to be.
He must also not access any computer network including the internet.
Wallis is charged with one count of possessing child pornography, and is in court next on August 9.
