A 38-year-old woman from Chase is facing charges after an investigation into a shooting on Columbia Street West last fall.
RCMP say Jennifer Lindsay Manuel is charged with possession of a restricted firearm. It comes after police responded to a report of multiple shots fired at the Hospitality Inn around 7:30 a.m. on October 16, 2020.
“Following the conclusion of a lengthy investigation by the Targeted Enforcement Unit, a report was submitted to the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) for charge assessment,” RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn said. “Charges were subsequently approved and a Summons was issued.”
A Clearwater man who was making breakfast for him and son told NL News at the time that he heard gunshots coming from the floor below his at the Hospitality Inn.
“Yeah, I heard f**k this, f**k you – whole bunch of f-bombs and then ‘drop the gun’ drop the gun, and then the shots. That’s what I heard,” Rob Chrystall said.
RCMP said at the time that one person was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Nearby Beattie Elementary and Sa-Hali Secondary schools were put on a hold-and-secure as police investigated the shooting.
