Kamloops RCMP say they seized drugs and ammunition during a investigation into street-level crime conducted by the Targeted Enforcement Unit.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says a 30-year-old man who was well known to police was also arrested this afternoon, Aug 4, while police were responding to concerns about drug use and crime in the Yew Street area, on the North Shore.
In a statement, Evelyn says suspected illegal drugs, packaging, and bullets, were seized on scene. She also notes police spotted what appeared to be a drug deal taking place while the were in the area.
“Today’s arrest was part of our ongoing efforts to suppress street-level crime in pockets of the community where residents have voiced their concerns about what they’re experiencing,” Inspect Jeff Pelley, the Officer in Charge of Operations with the Kamloops RCMP said.
The man was released, pending the conclusion of the investigation. No name was released, but RCMP say there could be a potential recommendation of charges related to drug trafficking.
