Kamloops RCMP have identified a suspect after two fires on Columbia Street yesterday afternoon, Aug 11.

Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says the first fire was about 3:30 p.m., on the 300-block of Columbia Street, near Royal Inland Hospital. The second was about 35 minutes later on Columbia Street West, near Sahali Terrace.

Evelyn says Kamloops firefighters quickly put both fires out, and police continue to investigate today.

She is asking drivers to check their dash cam footage in the area of Columbia Street to Third Street as well as on Columbia Street West to Sahali Terrace, between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

“If you saw anything or captured video of anyone lighting a fire or behaving suspiciously, maybe leaving an area quickly, please let us know,” Evelyn said.
