
Health officials in B.C. are reporting 717 new cases of COVID-19 in the province – the most since May 7 – 376 of which were in Interior Health.
There are now 4,277 active cases of the virus with 2,446 of those (just under 58 per cent) in Interior Health. A total of 82 people are in hospital with the virus, with 39 in intensive care.
There were 140 new cases reported in Fraser Health (821 active), 101 in Vancouver Coastal Health (523 active), 60 in Northern Health (163 active), 40 in Island Health (245 active), and no new cases in people who live outside of Canada (nine active).
No new deaths were reported leaving the death toll at 1,779 people, though there are now 11 active outbreaks in long-term care homes or assisted living facilities. Seven of those facilities are in Interior Health, three in Fraser Health, and one in Island Health.
On the vaccine front, there are now 82.4 per cent of people over the age of 12 (3,818,952) who have gotten their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 72 per cent of people (3,337,348) are fully vaccinated.
There have now been 7,164,020 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines administed in B.C. since December 2020, and increase of 22,824 since yesterday’s update.
There are 11 active outbreaks in:
- long-term care: Holyrood Manor, Kin Village West Court, Evergreen Baptist Care Society (Fraser Health), Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Brookhaven Care Centre, Village at Mill Creek (Interior Health) and Discovery Harbour (Island Health)
- assisted or independent living: Hawthorn Park and David Lloyd Jones (Interior Health)
