
Interior Health continues to see the majority of new COVID-19 cases in B.C., while hospitalizations across the province have doubled in the past 10 days.
There were 1,434 new cases across the province between Saturday and today, while IH saw 734 of those cases.
Elsewhere, Fraser Health reported 316 new cases, Vancouver Coastal Health saw 198 cases, while Island Health had 112 new cases and Northern Health saw 74.
There was one death on the weekend, being a person in Fraser Health.
Meanwhile, hospitalizations are now at 104 in B.C., which is exactly double the amount from 10 days ago, on August 6. Of those in hospital, 47 are in intensive care.
Active cases have also risen to 5,090 across the province, with almost two-thirds being in the Interior (2,982). A COVID-19 outbreak remains active in the Central Okanagan, which has been the case for almost a month. Active cases have risen by just over 2,000 in the past seven days.
There were also just under 67,000 vaccine doses administered in the past three days, with now 7,230,961 doses having gone out since December of 2020.
In total, more than 11,000 vaccine doses that went out on the weekend were first doses and more than 55,000 others were second doses. For people aged 12 and older in B.C., 82.6 per cent of people have now received one dose and 73.2 per cent are fully vaccinated.
