The Trans-Canada Highway is closed east of the New Afton Mine because of a “serious” crash this afternoon.
An accident was first reported in the eastbound lanes at about 3:15 p.m.
DriveBC now says the highway is closed in both directions and that there’s no estimated time of reopening.
Details of the crash are unclear at this point. Kamloops RCMP called it a “serious crash,” and asked people to avoid that area for now.
There’s no word right now on a possible detour. Tunkwa Lake Road is closed between Logan Lake and Savona because of the Tremont Creek wildfire, while Highway 8 is also closed between Merritt and Spences Bridge because of the Lytton Creek fire.
