
Police say a Burnaby woman was killed yesterday in a head-on crash on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Kamloops.
The accident happened at about 3 p.m. on the highway, near the merge point with Highway 5.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says the woman was driving a red Toyota Echo eastbound, when her car crossed the centre line and hit a delivery truck head on. Evelyn says the driver died at the scene.
A passenger in the Toyota was also taken to hospital in serious condition but was stable, Evelyn says. The driver of the delivery truck was also taken to hospital with what was described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses also reported to NL News that the delivery truck involved was a UPS truck.
The highway was closed for more than four hours after the accident.
Mounties and BC Coroners Service are continuing to investigate the crash. Evelyn is asking anyone with information with to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000, and reference file number 2021-28923.
