The Kamloops NorthPaws mascot has a name: Homer.
It was chosen by fans after 60 name ideas and 150 total submissions were made to the new West Coast League franchise.
“Homer was the most common submission and the most popular amongst fans via social media votes and at events,” NorthPaws Operations Manager,
He also says Homer is a very fitting moniker for a baseball dog mascot based on the following definitions:
- A home run, something we expect to see many of when the West Coast League comes to Norbrock Stadium.
- Someone who shows blind loyalty to a team, we dare you to find a bigger NorthPaws fan!
- A bonehead, because our mascot is full of shenanigans.
After sitting out the 2021 season, the NorthPaws are gearing up for their inaugural season next year, with the home opener in June 2022.
Until that time, you might get to see Homer in and around the community.
