You will have to be fully vaccinated if you want to catch a Kamloops Blazers game at Sandman Centre this fall.
The WHL says all five B.C. based teams will fully support the government’s COVID-19 proof of vaccination program that was announced on Monday by Premier John Horgan, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
Spectators at all games in Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, Vancouver, and Victoria will have to prove that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they will be allowed into the arenas
“The Western Hockey League and our five member Clubs in British Columbia fully respect and appreciate the position taken by the Government of B.C.,” WHL Commissioner Ron Robison said. “We are committed to implementing these new required measures in each of our five B.C. communities.”
The move is similar to one the Vancouver Canucks, which yesterday announced its support for the province’s proof of vaccination program. All guests, employees, and event staff at Rogers Arena or Abbotsford Centre will have to be fully vaccinated before they’re allowed in.
The Blazers open the season on October 2 in Prince George, before the home opener one week later against the same team. At this point, it is not clear when fans will be allowed into stands in Kamloops and Kelowna because of new restrictions in Interior Health which limit spectators at indoor sports like hockey and lacrosse.
The restrictions, released on Monday, also say competition is not permitted for the time-being with travel also not being recommended at this time.

The Western Hockey League fully supports the proof of COVID-19 vaccination program announced this week by the Government of British Columbia.
