The City of Kamloops says some people in Westsyde will likely be without water until 4 p.m. today after a water main break caused a mudslide this morning.
Utility services manager Greg Wightman says the break happened at about 5 a.m. between Westsyde Road and Parkview Drive, north of Oak Hills.
“Crews responded immediately, but by the time we had gotten there a large amount of mud and debris had come out of the bank on the edge of Westsyde Road and flown across Westsyde Road, blocking three lanes of traffic. Crews have been able to open up two lanes, so we do have one lane in either direction right now. But they’ll be on site throughout the day, probably until about 4 o’clock this afternoon.”
Wightman is asking drivers to expect delays during the day while crews are doing repairs. And households affected are asked to use bottled water until then.
It’s unclear exactly how many households are affected in the vicinity of the water main break.
