
Interior Health continues to lead the province in new COVID cases with 272 reported since Tuesday’s update.
In all, there were 814 new cases reported across the province, taking the number of active cases to 5,550, with 1,793 in the Interior.
There were another 241 cases in Fraser Health (1,601 active), 135 in Vancouver Coastal Health (939 active), 90 in Island Health (485 cases), and 72 in Northern Health (721 active). There was also four new cases in people who live outside of Canada, with 11 such cases active.
No new deaths were reported though there was an increase in the number of people in hospital to 261, up by six. Of those, 129 people are in ICU, that is up by three.
Interior Health says there were no new cases reported at the two care home outbreaks in Kamloops.
The outbreak at Kamloops Seniors Village remains at 13 cases – four staff and nine residents with one death – while the outbreak at the Hamlets at Westsyde remains at six – three staff and three residents.
Data from the province shows 85.2 per cent of people over the age of 12 (3,949,169) have gotten one dose of a COVID vaccine, while 77.7 per cent (3,601,169) are fully vaccinated.
Between August 31 and September 6, they say people not fully vaccinated account for 77.8 per cent of all new COVID cases. Similarly, between August 24 and September 6, they accounted for 85.9 per cent of all hospitalizations.
Yesterday, the government also released details on how people can get their COVID vaccine cards in order to go out to restaurants, gyms, and ticketed sporting events starting on Monday.
