Its not quite like the situation in Stanley Park with coyotes, but a bear has led to the closure of Rivers Trail between Riverside Park and Pioneer Park.
In a statement, the City of Kamloops says the trail remains closed today in the interest of public safety.
The trail as well as nearby Riverside and Pioneer parks were first closed yesterday amid reports that the bear was aggressive and charged at a conservation officer’s vehicle.
“Conservation Officers are monitoring the situation and residents are asked to obey all signage and avoid the area, including Pioneer Park,” the City said, in a statement Thursday morning.
People will be told when the bear is no longer in the area.
