A Surrey man reported missing after not returning home from a hunting trip in the Interior has now been found dead, according to Merritt RCMP.

The body of Shi Liu has been found near Peter Hope Lake, south of Stump Lake. Police say Liu was found dead inside his vehicle which had gone down an embankment off a forest service road.

Mounties say no foul play is suspected in Liu’s death.

“We ask that everyone give the family privacy during this difficult time,” Sgt. Josh Roda said in a news release.

“We want to remind the public to tell someone where you are going in the back woods, when you plan to return and to have a plan if something goes wrong.”
