The search of a Brandon Avenue house in Kamloops where a man was allegedly stabbed six days ago has led to the seizure of guns, weapons, drugs, and cash, according to Kamloops RCMP.
In a statement Tuesday, police say members of their Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) and General Investigation Services Team (GIST) searched the house last Thursday, Oct. 7, one day after the man who was stabbed went to the emergency room at Royal Inland Hospital seeking treatment.
Inside the house, officers say they found weapons including long guns, a morning star (a club with chained, spiked balls attached), a knife, ammunition; numerous amounts of suspected drugs including fentanyl, GHB, meth, pills; cash, and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
“The magnitude of the weapons located inside the residence, a residence officers attended as a result of a violent act, speaks to the risks involved every time police respond to these occurrences,” Kamloops RCMP Inspector Jeff Pelley, said, in a statement.
“Thanks to the quick action of the team, important evidence was seized and preserved as part of the aggravated assault file, and other dangerous items were prevented from making their way into the public while police continue their active investigation.”
Following the incident on Oct. 6, police say they had identified a suspect who was arrested at the scene.
No names were released Tuesday but RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn told NL News that same man was later released with conditions and a court date, pending the conclusion of the investigation.
