
A 28-year-old Kamloops man is facing several charges after an early morning crash on Saturday at Battle and Columbia streets downtown.
Police were called around 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 9 to a crash between a while Kia hatchback which had allegedly rear-ended a Honda CRV. There were no serious injuries reported, police say.
“As part of their response, police discovered the Kia had been reported stolen, which led officers into a deeper investigation and revealed other offences, including break and enter to a residence,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, Const. Crystal Evelyn said, in a press release Wednesday, Oct. 13.
Layton Maclaren is charged with breaking and entering into a house and committing theft; obstructing a peace officer; possessing stolen property exceeding $5,000; possessing someone else’s identity document without a lawful excuse; theft of motor vehicle; and failure to comply with a probation order.
Maclaren was remanded in custody with his next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 14.
