
B.C. is reporting another 667 new cases of COVID-19 Friday along with another 13 deaths.
There were another 101 new cases and two deaths in Interior Health, which currently has 817 active cases of the virus.
Fraser Health led the way with 246 new cases and 11 deaths, with 2,221 active cases. There were also 184 cases in Northern Health (734 active), 75 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (724 active), and 59 new cases in Island Health (572 active).
There were also two new cases in people who live outside of Canada with 60 such cases active.
The government says the spike in deaths comes as it includes the deaths at the Willingdon Care Home in Burnaby where more than 90 people, staff and residents, have contracted the virus.
In all, there are now 5,128 active cases of the virus in the province, with 367 contagious people in hospital with the virus. Of that, 152 people are in the ICU. The provincial COVID death toll meanwhile is up to 2,055 people.
On the vaccine front there are now 89 per cent of eligible people in B.C. (4,126,668) who have gotten their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 83 per cent (3,848,689) are fully vaccinated.
Data from the government shows that between Oct. 7 and 13, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 68.3 per cent of all COVID cases while from Sept. 30 to Oct. 13, they accounted for 76.3 per cent of hospitalizations.
