
On the day the province announced plans for a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to people who want one, it is reporting 457 new cases of the virus and two deaths.
There were 83 new cases in Interior Health which currently has 642 active cases. Fraser Health led the way with 176 cases (2,002 active), with 82 new cases in Northern Health (877 active), 61 in Vancouver Coastal Health (670 active), and 55 in Island Health (579 active).
No new cases were reported in people who live outside of Canada with 59 such cases active.
Provincewide, there are now 4,829 active cases of the virus with 390 contagious people in hospital, 155 in ICU. The provincial COVID death toll is 2,131 people with one death each in Fraser and Northern Health respectively.
As of today, the province says 89.6 per cent (4,155,181) of eligible people over the age of 12 have gotten their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 84.5 per cent (3,918,385) are fully vaccinated.
Data from the province shows that between Oct. 18 and 24, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 64.1 per cent of cases, while between Oct. 11 and 24, they accounted for 76.2 per cent of hospitalizations.
