Across B.C. there are 4,748 active cases of the virus, a decrease of 81 from yesterday, with 422 contagious people in hospital, up by 32 because of a data correction in Interior Health. The number of people in ICU with COVID-19 is at 157, up by two.
“As of Oct. 26, Interior Health has changed the primary source of COVID-19 hospitalization surveillance data. This change in data source will lead to a one-time increase in the number of ever and currently reported COVID-19 hospitalizations,” the province said, in a statement.
“This change is retrospective to the beginning of the pandemic though primarily affects cases reported since Aug. 2021.”
The provincial COVID-19 death toll is at 2,137 people.
There are now 89.7 per cent (4,157,816) of eligible people over the age of 12 who have gotten at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 84.7per cent (3,925,937) are fully vaccinated. That is an increase of 2,635 first doses and 7,552 second doses since Tuesday.
Data from the province also shows that between Oct. 19 and 25, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 64.1 per cent of cases, while from Oct. 12 to 25 they accounted for 74.9 per cent of hospitalizations.
