The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has rescinded an evacuation order for 51 properties in the Brookmere area, near the Coquihalla.

The orders were brought in last Monday, Nov. 15, just a few hours after the City of Merritt was evacuated.

Just one property at 5144 Railway Drive remains on evacuation order, because of the potential danger to life and safety.

The TNRD says if the situation changes, it may need to order people to evacuate once again.

The Coquihalla is still closed in both directions between Hope and Merritt so Brookmere residents have to use Highway 5A to get to and from their community.
