Properties in Brookmere, south of Merritt, have been evacuated again today.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued a new evacuation order for 50 properties that were taken off of order a week ago.

“A significant log jam has been observed by provincial staff approximately two kilometers upstream from the community of Brookmere,” the TNRD said Tuesday.

“Given the weather forecast and the potential for increased water levels, there is concerns that this log jam could be dislodged and carried downstream in to Brookmere, where it could cause further damage.”

A flood warning also remains in place for the entire Coldwater River.
