Three days after they were put back on an evacuation order, residents in 50 properties in Brookmere have been given the all-clear to go back home.
The TNRD has lifted the evacuation order Friday afternoon that was put in place due to a “significant” log jam.
“Based on observations from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations, and Rural Development (FLNRORD), the logjam upstream of Brookmere no longer poses an immediate threat to the community,” the TNRD said. “Accordingly, the province has recommended that this Evacuation Order can be rescinded.”
“An Evacuation Order may need to be reissued; however, if that is deemed necessary, the Evacuation Order process will re-commence.”
An evacuation order remains in place for one property at 5144 Railway Drive.
This was the third evacuation order Brookmere area residents. They were on order from Nov. 15 to Nov. 23 due to flooding and from Aug. 14 to Aug 31 due wildfires.
Earlier today, the City of Merritt lifted most evacuation orders as the risk of flooding has passed.
While most flood watches, warnings, or high streamflow advisories were lifted across B.C. today, as of publishing, high streamflow advisories were still in place on the Coldwater and Nicola rivers and Spius Creek.
