
A man was arrested this morning, Dec. 8, after being caught in a residential burglary in Upper Sahali.
A nearby school, Summit Elementary, was promoted to lock its doors and remain secure during the arrest.
The man was reported inside a Sahali residence within the 400 block of Monarch Court, where police were called at around 10:15am by the residents.
RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said the suspect tried to escape on foot, but was captured with the help of a police dog service unit.
She said the trespasser was seen on a home security system, which prompted the residents to call the police. Evelyn also reported a stolen vehicle outside of the home where the burglar was caught
The man is currently in police custody, and is being held in a cell while he waits for court.
Summit Elementary, which was only a few blocks away, was placed on hold and secure while the event was occurring. Everyone involved is safe.
