The Kamloops Blazers were one of the busiest teams on WHL Trade Deadline day, adding another pair of forwards as they look to capture their third successive BC Division Title.
In one of three separate trades Monday, they added more size and physicality by acquiring 19-year-old forward Drew Englot from the Regina Pats in exchange for 17-year-old forward Tye Spencer.
Englot has put up 40 points (20 goals and 20 assists) in 112 WHL games over three seasons with the Pats. The six-foot-two native of Candiac, Sask., has scored six goals and assisted on 10 others for a total of 16 points in 32 games this season.
The Blazers also traded overage forward Nick McCarry and a second round pick in the 2025 WHL Draft to the Spokane Chiefs for overage forward Luke Toporowski.
McCarry put up 28 points in 34 games this season after he was listed by the Blazers in June 2021. The Calgary native has also spent time with the Medicine Hat Tigers, giving him 69 points (30 goals and 39 assists) in 138 career WHL games over five seasons.
Toporowski meanwhile has spent five seasons in Spokane where he is currently the team leader in goals this season with 15. In 223 career games with the Chiefs, the Bettendorf, Iowa native scored 76 goals and assisted on 89 others for a total of 165 points.
Earlier this month, the Blazers also added 18-year-old Kobe Verbicky, and 19-year-old Ethan Rowland to their roster in exchange for draft picks.
On Monday, the team also traded forward Josh Pillar to the Saskatoon Blazers because of a private medical situation.
