The Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating after a man was found dead on the Tk’emlups reserve on Saturday, Jan. 29.
Police say the body was found in the parking lot shared by St. Joseph’s Church and the Qwemtsin Health Clinic on Chilcotin Road. They note evidence found near the victim’s body linked him to a black 2014 Honda Accord that was found on Dallas Drive at Lafarge Road, about 22 km away.
“Police are asking anyone who might have dash cam video from the Chilcotin Road area to Lafarge Road at Dallas Drive in Kamloops from the afternoon of January 28 until the morning of January 29 to contact investigators,” Southeast District Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector Brent Novakoski, said, in a statement.
“An extensive video canvass of areas related to this investigation is being conducted in hopes that investigators will be able to confirm a timeline of events to further this investigation.”
The RCMP’s “E” Division Serious Crime Unit, the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Service, police dog teams, as well as both Kamloops RCMP and the Tk’emlups Rural RCMP are all investigating the man’s death.
The BC Coroner’s Service is also conducting a concurrent investigation.
Police are asking anyone with dash cam footage or information to call police at 1-877-987-8477.
