The Kamloops NorthPaws will have a new head coach after their inaugural season this summer.
It is as current head coach Cole Armstrong will be moving to Calgary after he accepted a new coaching position with the Webber Academy’s Wildcats Baseball program.
In a statement, the NorthPaws say Armstrong will be back in Kamloops in May when the expansion franchise finally begins play in the West Coast League, after which the Surrey native will commit full-time to the Wildcats.
“We’re excited for him because we see our organization as a stepping stone, not only for our players, but for our coaches too,” NorthPaws co-owner Norm Daley said, in a statement. “We’re happy he will be back in May to be our skipper in our inaugural season.”
Wildcats Baseball is Alberta’s newest baseball association with a brand-new facility opening this spring. It is funded by former Alberta provincial cabinet minister and Webber Academy founder Neil Webber.
Armstong will serve as the hitting coach for the entire program and manager of the program’s 18U College Prep team.
