Kamloops RCMP say they seized more than 200 grams of suspected drugs during a traffic stop on the North Shore early on Thursday morning.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says an officer who was on patrol pulled over a vehicle that was travelling without its headlights on at the intersection of Eighth Street and Sudbury Avenue.
She says as the officer was talking to the driver, he spotted the butt end of a rifle inside the vehicle.
“The officer called for backup, then police arrested the driver and passenger for possession of a dangerous weapon,” she said, in a statement. “Further inspection of the rifle revealed it was a pellet gun.”
Evelyn says a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 200 grams of suspected fentanyl and cocaine “packaged in a manner conducive to drug trafficking.”
“All items were seized and the occupants were released, pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation,” she added.
