Kamloops RCMP say they seized four kilos of suspected Oxycodone, a stolen trailer, and $1,800 in cash during what began as an impaired driving investigation.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were told about an erratic and possibly impaired drivers on the Trans Canada Highway around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. She says police were able to track the truck down at Vicars Road.
“During the officer’s investigation, he discovered the truck’s trailer had been reported stolen out of Alberta,” Evelyn said. “The driver was arrested and a search that followed revealed two large ziplock bags containing suspected Oxycodone and a substantial amount of cash.”
Evelyn says the driver, who was unlicensed, was released from custody but given violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act. The truck was impounded for seven days while the trailer, cash, and drugs were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
