Officials have lifted the air quality advisory that was issued for Kamloops yesterday, March 15.
It was jointly issued by B.C.’s Ministry of the Environment and Interior Health, because of fine particulate matter, caused by emissions from wood stoves as well as from industry and vehicles, trucks and rail traffic.
Environment Canada has also lifted a special air quality statement for the Kamloops area that was put in place late Tuesday night.
“Elevated pollution levels are no longer expected or have moved out of the area,” it said.
As of publishing, the air quality index in Kamloops was at a three, indicating a low risk. However, there is still a chance it could increase to a five or moderate later this afternoon.
People are being told to stay indoors as much as possible to reduce exposure, especially if they have chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, heart disease, and diabetes.
